In the past few years I've:
1. Had a baby (now 3 years old!)
2. Got married
3. Graduated from Waseda
4. Started a 3.5 year master's degree (Architecture) at University of Michigan
5. Sold the Hasselblad
6. Bought and sold a few 4x5 setups (Sinar P, Arca Swiss f-line metric)
7. Bought and sold a Leica M3
In the past two weeks I sold all the film equipment and bought a 5d mk ii (I know the mk iii is coming out but I didnt want to spend 3.5k on a body... we'll see) and 2 lenses: 24mm ts-e II L and 85mm f/1.2L II.
Felt sad to let the film stuff go but with baby and life I just didn't have time for it anymore, in the past three years I took about ten photos with the film equipment so I thought it was time to move on.
I am re-uploading my best work and some new stuff to this site: 500px.com/awatanabe if any of you are there.
In the next 2 months I will be graduating! Will probably be moving back to Tokyo for work, excited to be back in the city again...

Darkroom!
I've finally got everything I need for a darkroom, an older professional Fuji enlarger, Rodenstock Rodagon lenses(50mm & 105mm for 35mm and medium format negatives)!
Printing on Ilford Multigrade IV Fiber-Based paper, going to start to whore myself out by trying to make some gallery, realistically - cafe, contacts and start showing my stuff to a people I can see.
I've had a few requests to buy prints during my time on deviantart, so if you're still interested, now is the time to ask.
Thanks,
Alex

Summer '07
Took a lot of photos. I really do love the saturation/colors I get with the Carl Zeiss glass - to the point that I only really use the Nikon F2 for it's wide angle lens. Want to get a 150mm lens for more portrait-ish shoots. Would also love to get a SWC, but I think an 8x10 would be better with tilt/shift.
Equipment talk is boring.
Just finished submitting everything from before I left Tokyo for Taipei this summer, have around 60 medium format slide shots that I'm happy with, 40ish 35mm shots, and 9 rolls of undeveloped b&w medium format film I'll get to sooner or later.
Thanks for the DD
thanks to hoojio http://hoojio.deviantart.com/ for suggesting it - secondly thanks to hesitation for featuring it
Although I think no 'arteesteeee' should pander to their audience, it is nice to receive some recognition - so thanks to everyone for the feedback.
Alex

Good to hear you're doing so well. I've wondered from time to time what you were up to these days.
